My name is Philippa Boon, (Pa for short), Head Trainer at Dog-in-a-Box Dog Training. I believe that dogs should be trained using force-free methods and I use a range of games to teach training concepts, also known as concept-based training. This creates a fantastic partnership between you and your dog, and the training you undertake will give your dog skills for real life, whilst having fun!

I have had dogs ALL my life but they were secondary to horses for most of it!! That is, until I brought Matty home at 8 weeks old.
Having discovered “Absolute Dogs”, I started training Matty & my other 3 dogs (!) with their game-based training.
Despite being socialised & trained well, Matty has always been incredibly nervous & hyperactive. So with this in mind I put all my efforts into helping him cope with life, leading me to become a Pro Dog Trainer!
I love working with dogs & their people. I am extremely proud to say that I have helped almost 200 clients, from a variety of backgrounds, personalities & training needs.
I adore what I do, & have spent a lot of time honing my craft & facilities to make sure all our Dog-in-a-Box members benefit from the same great experiences!

My team would not be complete without the fantastic work that Wobble does with anxious & reactive dogs. He is definitely now an elder statesman but just has the most wonderful temperament & an uncanny knack of being able to read any dog from 20 yards!
He will instantly assess whether a dog is truly aggressive or whether they are just nervous – many dogs have been in full reactive mode; hackles, barking, lunging & he has marched calmly up to them, introduced himself, communicated that he is there to help & immediately diffused the situation!
He is one in a million & a huge asset to the team!

I’ve owned & trained dogs for as long as I can remember, & I’m pretty sure I’m known as the crazy dog lady in my village!
I have two young & excitable Labradors & a crazy Cavapoo, so you will mainly find me out & about playing games with them, to keep them entertained & engaged!
In 2019 I gained a Higher Distinction in Level 3 Dog Training, this along with my passion for dogs allows me to help owners get the best out of their furry family members.
I’m delighted to be working alongside Pa & the rest of the team!
